It is
local lore that people come to Winter Park to ski, but they stay because of
the summer. We completely agree! Summer is such a treat in the
mountains, with sunny days and dry trails, music festivals, art shows and
so many other activities. The wildflowers are stunning and that spot
by the river is still the perfect place for a picnic. Summer is so
sweet -
and so short at 9000'. Come enjoy it while
you can!

What's one GREAT
thing about Summer?
Long
summer days mean you can fit in all your favorite alpine pastimes!

A FEW FUN THINGS
The
hummingbirds are in full flight - watch them drink from the fountain and
hover over a bachelors' button.
Artists' Week is just around the corner!
Jango has decided that napping in the sun is what summer is all
about. A quick drink from the pond and back to that nap
spot.
All day long.

Three Perfect Days
With so many things to do and see here, we are often asked
how to fit it all in! Here are our suggestions for the perfect
three-day visit.
Day One: Arrive at Wild Horse Inn. Get a cookie or two
from the jar and enjoy a cup of tea on the back deck while you check out
the hiking maps or the events calendar. Head to dinner at the new
Tabernash Tavern and be sure to sit at a table outside. Now
get some good rest.
Day Two: Coffee and breakfast at Wild Horse Inn gets you
ready for the day ahead. Stop by Wild Horse Gourmet to get
the perfect picnic lunch. Take a favorite hike to Columbine Lake
for some of the most beautiful alpine views anywhere, and have your
picnic on the lakeshore. Or, head to town and enjoy one of the
festivals or art shows. Early risers could do both! Back to
the Inn for a massage and sauna. A glass of wine in the front
garden, and off to Devil's Thumb Ranch House Restaurant for a slow,
wonderful dinner.

Day Three: Coffee and breakfast at Wild Horse Inn.
Head to Grand Lake and stop for some ice cream and a short shopping tour
- Or take a horseback ride, or rent a paddle boat for a couple of
hours. Then drive through Rocky Mountain National Park over Trail
Ridge Road. Be sure to take your camera for all the wildlife and
incredible views. If you're heading back to the front range, take
the Peak to Peak Highway and extend your mountain time just a little
longer.
Now that's summer!
